UNSW DELEGATE FOR WITNESS EXAMINATION AT ALSA CONFERENCE 2008
Written by Warren Brandt
Friday, 23 May 2008
An exciting opportunity has come up for anyone interested in Trial Advocacy to apply to be UNSW's representative at the annual Australian Law Student's Association (ALSA) conference, which is being held in Hobart this year from 7-13 July. Competitors will have the cost of their $700 ALSA pass (which includes accommodation, entrance into social events, some meals) fully subsidised by the UNSW Law Society, but will have to pay for their own flights and other living costs (taxis, meals not provided) in Tasmania.
Trial Advocacy is a mock trial competition that focuses on adducing evidence by questioning witnesses. Imagine a person has been charged with a criminal offence. As the crown prosecutor, how will you persuade the judge to reach a verdict of "guilty" ? As counsel for the defence, how will you defend your client and prevent a conviction?
