King & Wood Mallesons JD Impact Program – Semester Two

Survive. Adapt. Thrive.

The King & Wood Mallesons JD Impact Program is a peer-mentoring program designed to assist mature students in making a successful transition into law school. It is LawPlus for Juris Doctors - run by JDs for JDs. The program works by organising weekly group meetings at the start of semester with trained JD mentors.

New JD students who have started this semester have the opportunity to regularly meet with later-year students who have successfully adjusted to law school and can give them advice about studying law at UNSW. It is an opportunity to interact and learn from students who have managed to balance the rigours of a law degree with other personal and professional commitments.

JD mentors are expected to draw upon their own experiences of studying law to help new JD students settle in and navigate through the first few weeks of law school. For them, it is a chance to develop a wide range of leadership skills and meet new people.
