Learn about opportunities in the Criminal Law at the Public Interest Portfolio’s upcoming careers panel!
We will be welcoming speakers from a diverse range of backgrounds to help inform students on the different opportunities available to students interested in Criminal Law.
At the Careers Panel, we will be hearing from:
Caroline Dobraszczyk (Barrister at Trust Chambers) – Caroline has extensive trial advocacy experience, advising and appearing for both prosecution and defence. Prior to being called to the Bar, Caroline held senior legal positions with the Commonwealth DPP and the Office of the DPP in NSW.
Kara Grimsley (Legal Aid) – As a current Graduate Lawyer in the Criminal Law Division, Kara gets to work on a wide range of criminal law matters and assists people charged with criminal offences appearing before a range of courts throughout the State.
Ruth Heazlewood (Public Defenders Office) - After practicing Criminal Law for over 14 years, Ruth as chambers manager at the Public Defenders, develops and expands students programs as well as engages in policy and research.
Brett Thomson (Crown Solicitor’s Office) – as a senior solicitor in the Criminal Law Practice Group, Brett has assisted the NSW State in a range of cases involving coronial inquests and a range of prosecutions and appeals.
This is not an event only aimed at final year students as every student can gain some knowledge on how to gain experience in this area either as a volunteer or through an internship.
