WHAT DO WE DO?

The Careers portfolio at UNSW Law Society strives to enhance the career development opportunities that are available to law students as a result of the relationship between our Society and the various legal and commercial firms in Sydney and abroad.
A major focus is to provide students with greater access to firms by improving and implementing a number of careers events and publications. In addition to a series of publications (most notable the Summer Clerkship Guide and Alternative Careers Guide) we host a series of student connect events throughout the year including:

Firm Career Presentations with top-tier firms on-campus
Headstart Mentoring Program offering students a meaningful interaction with leading Australian professionals.
All new to 2010 Twilight Drinks - a new initiative being launched this year for HR from sponsor firms to meet and interact with Penultimate year students.
Hosting International Hong Kong Law Careers Fair
Skills workshops
Alternative and Government Careers Week

We also provide ongoing careers development support to students throughout the year, and work closely with various firms to increase students’ awareness of the various career opportunities available to them as a result of their law degree.

INTRODUCTION

The UNSW Law Society Careers Guide "Lawsoc Careers Online" is designed to provide quick information for students researching careers at different firms and industries. We have introductions to all our sponsors and as such this information is intended to be concise in order to provide a starting point for students.

It is easy to use! We have provided hyperlinks to each firm page via the tables below, with the firms categorised according to their location and industry. Each firm page has its firm logo (when clicked will let you go straight to its website) as well as key information about the firm. Some profiles also include articles which detail "the day in the life" of a summer clerk and solicitor where applicable. Some pages not available anywhere else include our collection of Government Department and Regulatory Authority links as well as as College of Law page. Happy Browsing!
