"Speakers' Forum presents Marque Law Firm's Managing Partner Michael Bradley: 'Can you be a lawyer and liked?' When: Tue 4th May 1-2pm
Where: Law Building G23"
Will working in a corporate law firm really give you a heart attack?
Elizabeth Gascoigne will talk about her book Legally Blind, and life in the legal profession.
Graduating
with a Bachelors of Arts and Laws from the University of Sydney, and
working in commercial law for over 15 years, Gascoigne is well
experienced when it comes to law degrees and corporate law jobs.
Whether
you're unsure about what you want to do with your law degree or whether
you're thoroughly enthusiastic to go straight and land a job with one
of the big 6 law firms, Gascoigne's talk will provide excellent insight
for you to know just what the legal profession is really about.

Become a Speakers' Forum volunteer!
The Speakers' Forum is a division of the UNSW Law Society Education portfolio that organises a variety of discussion panels, key note lectures, workshops and other events that serve to bring insightful and high profile speakers from within the legal profession, politics, and academia to the UNSW Law School. Past speakers have included the Hon. Michael Kirby (former justice of the High Court of Australia), the Hon. Murray Gleeson (the former Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia), Stephen Hopper (lawyer formerly representing Guantanamo Bay detainee Mamdouh Habib) and prominent academics in areas such as climate change and international law.
As a volunteer, you can take on as large or as small a role as you wish. The amount of time you wish to dedicate is entirely up to you. No experience is required. Some typical activities include:
• Research into topic areas of law and potential speakers
• Drafting letters, correspondence to speakers, and media releases
• Organising publicity materials
• Event management duties: liaising with law building staff, caterers, etc.
• Volunteering for Speakers Forum information stalls.
