Welcome to the UNSW Law Society’s JD Portfolio! The portfolio was created in 2012 to promote the interests of and address the various needs of JD students. It was designed as a tangible recognition of the differences between undergraduate and postgraduate students with a mind to reconcile those differences in such a way that JD students can enjoy all that LawSoc has traditionally had to offer, but also enjoy services tailored specifically to the needs of JD students. My role as the JD VP is to represent you, the JD students, in Cabinet and to be the point of call for questions, queries, compliments or concerns that the cohort may have throughout the year regarding LawSoc.
Given the youth of the portfolio, we are still looking for innovative ways to best meet JD needs at all UNSW campuses and I entreat anyone with ideas not to hesitate but to share them, as that is the only way this portfolio can truly be a success. With a variety of events to attend that will be both JD-specific and aimed at all UNSW law students, the portfolio this year is planning to build on all the great work done in 2012 by James and his team to ensure that LawSoc delivers the best product it can for JD students. The events we have throughout the year will be constantly changing and we will aim to make the portfolio as flexible as possible so keep watching this space to keep abreast of the numerous opportunities to get involved with LawSoc, be it by attending an event, playing in one of our sporting teams, or just having a chat with other law students... that is how you will get the most out of your law school experience.
